Autumn Equinox
The Autumn Equinox is the 16th of the 24 solar terms, and the 4th solar term in autumn.
Autumn Equinox, in Chinese Pinyin Qiu Fen, literally lies the midpoint of the entire autumn, and the 'Fen' means "equally divided".
In the Northern Hemisphere the autumnal equinox falls on September 23 this year, as the Sun crosses the celestial equator going south.According to the astronomical definition of the seasons, the autumnal equinox also marks the beginning of autumn, which lasts until the winter solstice.
At the Autumn Equinox, most parts of China have entered a cool autumn. The cold air going south meets the declining warm and humid air, generating the frequent precipitation and temperature drop. As people normally say, "as an autumn rain comes, another round of coldness arrives".
