There had been a deep starry sky above Dahe Village, then the sun, moon and stars in the hands of our ancestors were transformed into the patterns of the sun,the moon pattern, the constellation, the comet, the constellation and other star patterns, and the gorgeous colored pottery was made.
大河村星空深邃，日月星辰在先民手中幻化成太阳纹、月亮纹、星座纹、彗星纹、星座纹等星象图案，烧制出绚丽的彩陶。
These colored pottery patterns are the earliest astronomical material discovered in China, showing our ancestors' cognition and perception of the universe. Dahe Village therefore was known as village under the stars. On the morning of March 25, with the vivid narration of Zhang Shengfang, a senior lecturer of Dahe Village Site Museum, a long historical memory opened brightly.
这些彩陶图案是我国目前发现最早的天文学实物资料，表现出先民对宇宙世界的认知和感悟，大河村落因此被誉为‘星空下的村落’。”3月25日上午，随着大河村遗址博物馆资深讲解员张胜芳的生动讲述，一段久远的历史记忆粲然开启。

People works with the sunrise and rests with the sunset;The ancestors of Dahe Village not only observed replacement of the sun and the moon, rain, snow, wind and frost, but also vividly expressed these changes in the form of patterns. "These colored pottery patterns are the manifestation of the ancient people of Dahe Village's observation and utilization of astronomical knowledge. The specific shape of the patterns may indicate the concept of time such as day, month and year, which indicates that people at that time had already noticed the impact of changes in astronomical phenomena on agricultural production activities and may have had the consciousness of seasons." Pointing to these patterns, Zhang Shengfang told reporters.
日出而作，日落而息;日月更替，雨雪风霜……大河村的先民们不仅观察到了天象的变化，并以图案的形式将这些变化生动表现出来。“这些彩陶图案，是大河村先民观察和利用天文知识的体现，图案的具体形制可能表明日、月、年等时间概念，这说明当时的人们已经注意到天文现象的变化对农业生产活动的影响，可能已经有了季节的概念。”指着这些图案，张胜芳告诉记者。

The exquisite pottery is a vivid testimony of the wisdom and creativity of our ancestors, and the beautiful images related to astronomy contain the ancient people's inquiry into the universe.
大河村人白天耕种渔猎，烧制陶器，夜晚遥望星空，观察天象，祈福未来……精美的陶器成为先民智慧与创造力的生动见证，一个个与天文有关的美丽图像蕴涵着先民们对宇宙的叩问。
The ancient villagers might have known that the year was twelve months and every month was devided into 3 ten-days. Some of the unearthed pots were painted with a circle of 12 suns, or a moon divided into two semicircles with a full moon in the middle. Li Changtao, the host of the archaeological excavation of the original Dahe Village Site, once analyzed.
“大河先民或许已经知晓一年12个月、一月分为三旬。出土的陶钵上有的绘有一圈12个太阳，有的1个月亮纹分上、下两个半圆，中间是满月。” 原大河村遗址考古发掘主持人李昌韬曾这样分析。
Just as the preface of the Exhibition Hall in Dahe Village Site Museum reads, the starry river illuminates the footprints of Chinese civilization.The thick soil of Dahe Village Site likes a history book without words, which records how the seeds of civilization were sown, germinated and grew.
