Dongdajie Street is the earliest street in the old urban area. It has a history of more than 550 years from Ming and Qing Dynasties to Republic of China.
东大街是郑州老城区最早的街道，从明清到民国，有着550多年历史。

Although Dongdajie Street belongs to a living area, but is a major traffic road. To its east, people could arrive Kaifeng, to its west Xingyang and Luoyang. Since it could connected the east and west, it was known as Dongdajie .
东大街虽为百姓居住区，但属交通要道，东可至开封，西可达荥阳、洛阳，连接东西，也因此得名“东大街”。

In 1902, the Empress Dowager Cixi went through this road on the way from xi 'an to kaifeng to avoid the chaos of the Peace Treaty of 1901.
