Caochangjie Street, which is next to the Yimalu Street, has a history that less people know it.

毗邻一马路的操场街，有着一段鲜为人知的军事历史过往。

 

 

During the Minguo Period (1912 — 1949), Wu Pifu’s group of the Northern Warlords, the No.8 Mixed-Brigade do the military training here. Covering above 20,000 square meters, it is the only larger military playground in Zhengzhou then.

民国时期，直系军阀吴佩孚的第八混成旅操练、集会的地方就在这里!2万余平方米的面积，是当时郑州唯一一个较大的军事操场。

 

 

After the Beijing-Hankou Railway and Kaifeng-Luoyang Railway were opened to traffic, Zhengzhou opened a commercial port, which attracted many merchants and residents start a small business, then this place had become a street. Since the original address is a big gym, it is named “Caochangjie Street”

卢汉铁路和汴洛铁路相继通车后，郑州开设起了商埠，不少商户和居民争相在原第八混成旅操场附近安营扎寨，做起了小买卖，之后便逐渐形成街道。又因原地址是个大操场，固名曰“操场街”。
