On Oct. 1, tens of thousands of people gathered in Erqi Square to eat Zhengzhou Huimian noodles, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and this activity was live broadcasted by CCTV for 6 minutes.

Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, is backed by a large grain province and enjoys the reputation of "City of Quick-frozen Food" and "City of Huimian Noodles". For Chengdu people, hot pot can heal everything; while for Zhengzhou people, nothing can defeat us in the face of a bowl of Huimian noodles. Zhengzhou has at least 6,000 Huimian noodles restaurants offering different types of noodles, such as noodles in beef and mutton soup, noodles with special flavors such as curry and seafood, and Qiangguo noodles, of which the noodles in beef and mutton soup are always the mainstream.

In the 1980s, Mianfang Road witnessed the "golden age" of national cotton factories in Zhengzhou and the prosperity and development of Zhengzhou light industry, and also recorded the memories of the old Zhengzhou people on food. Zhang Lao Qiang's Qiangguo Huimian noodles were introduced to Zhengzhou in 2016 from Fangcheng County, Nanyang City, Henan Province. Its Qiangguo Huimian noodles not only inherit the essence of traditional Huimian noodles such as fresh and fragrant soup, soft and smooth noodles, fresh and green vegetables, but also make bold innovations, for example, the meat should be stir-fried to brown and the scallion should be fried to yellow before the broth is added, and fresh Chinese cabbages are finally added when the noodles are taken out of the pot. A bowl of Huimian noodles with fresh soup and chewy meat is thus completed.
