The Ancestor Worship Ceremony at Yellow Emperor’s Birthplace in Jichou Year (2009)

 

 

3月29日，农历己丑年三月初三上午，晴空万里，惠风和畅，万众瞩目的己丑年黄帝故里拜祖大典在新郑市隆重举行。

In the morning of March 29th, i.e. the third day of March in Jichou year of the lunar calendar, the grand ceremony of worshipping ancestors in the hometown of Yellow Emperor in Jichou year was held in Xinzheng City, with a bright sky and a gentle breeze.

来自海内外的各界嘉宾两万多人喜聚盛典，拜谒中华民族的始祖轩辕黄帝，共同祈福华夏繁荣昌盛，共同祝愿世界和平和谐。

More than 20,000 guests from all walks of life at home and abroad gathered for the grand ceremony to pay homage to the ancestor of the Chinese nation, Xuanyuan Huangdi, praying for the prosperity of China and wishing the world peace and harmony together.

本次拜祖大典由政协河南省委员会、中华炎黄文化研究会、中华全国归国华侨联合会和中华全国台湾同胞联谊会主办，郑州市人民政府、郑州市政协和新郑市人民政府承办。大典主题为“同根同祖同源，和平和睦和谐”。

This ancestor worship ceremony was hosted by Henan Provincial Committee of China People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Association for Yan Huang Culture of China, All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, and undertaken by Zhengzhou Municipal People's Government, Zhengzhou CPPCC and Xinzheng Municipal People's Government. The theme of the ceremony is "Same Root, Same Ancestor and Same Origin, Peace, Concord and Harmony".

9时46分，己丑年黄帝故里拜祖大典开始，全体肃立，鸣盛世礼炮21响。随后嘉宾先后向黄帝像敬献花篮。他们缓步走到花篮处整理缎带，并向黄帝塑像深深鞠躬。

At 9:46, the ceremony of worshipping ancestors in the hometown of the Yellow Emperor in Jichou year began, all stood up, and the salute of the prosperous age sounded 21 times. Later, guests successively presented flower baskets to the statue of the Yellow Emperor. They walked slowly to the flower basket to sort out the ribbons and bowed deeply to the statue of the Yellow Emperor.

9时58分，净手上香仪式开始。

At 9:58, the hand cleaning and incense burning ceremony began.

10时07分，随着主司仪的宣布，现场1万多人向轩辕黄帝像行施拜礼。随后，大会进行第五项，恭读拜祖文 ：黄河水，黄土壤，黄帝业，绩皇皇：少典子，震八方;启蒙昧，别洪荒。……新郑拜，古定制;黄陵祭，齐酹觞。拜与祭，得益彰;敬始祖，伏尚飨。”

At 10:07, with the announcement of the master of ceremony, more than 10,000 people paid homage to the statue of Xuanyuan Huangdi. Subsequently, the fifth item was carried out, respectfully reading the works of worshipping ancestors: Yellow River water, yellow soil, great cause of Yellow Emperor, achieving meritorious services; the son of Shaodian, becoming famous and fear-inspiring throughout China; Enlightening ignorance, farewell to the state of chaos. ...... Xinzheng worshiping, ancient customization; Huangling ceremony, sacrificing by sprinkling wine. Worshiping and sacrificing, benefiting by associating together; to the ancestor, enjoying the offering."

站立在颂歌台和祈福台上的340名颂歌演员，在著名歌唱家杨洪基带领下齐唱《黄帝颂》。

340 carolers standing on the caroling platform and praying platform sang Ode to the Yellow Emperor under the leadership of the famous singer Yang Hongji.

在接下来的“祈福中华”环节中，优秀中华儿女和炎黄子孙的代表，在祈福树上悬挂由个人签名的祈福牌，并登上拜祖台，在拜祖文长卷上用印，共同祈福我们的祖国更加繁荣昌盛，祈福我们的民族早日实现伟大复兴。

In the next "Blessing China" session, representatives of outstanding Chinese sons and daughters and descendants of the Yellow Emperor hung the blessing cards signed by individuals on the blessing tree, boarded the ancestor worship platform, and sealed the long scroll of worshipping ancestors, praying for the greater prosperity of our motherland and the great rejuvenation of our nation at an early date.

10时30分，大典进行最后一项：天地人和。

At 10:30, the ceremony went on with the last item: Harmony of Heaven, Earth and Man.

10时35分许，己丑年黄帝故里拜祖大典典礼告成!

At about 10:35, the ceremony of worshipping ancestors in the hometown of Yellow Emperor in Jichou year was completed!

来自美国、英国、法国、德国、澳大利亚、日本、韩国、新加坡、印度尼西亚和香港、澳门、台湾等32个国家和地区的89个各类华人华侨商会，社团组织和12个姓氏宗亲会、同乡会的嘉宾参加了此次大典。

Guests from 89 overseas Chinese chambers of commerce and associations in 32 countries and regions including the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, and from 12 surname clan associations and hometown associations attended the ceremony.
