The Ancestor Worship Ceremony at Yellow Emperor’s Birthplace in Dingyou Year (2017)

 

 

3月30日，农历三月三，丁酉年黄帝故里拜祖大典在新郑市隆重举行。

On March 30th, i.e. the third day of the third lunar month, the ceremony of worshipping ancestors in the hometown of Yellow Emperor in Dingyou year was held grandly in Xinzheng City.

本届黄帝故里拜祖大典仍延续“同根同祖同源，和平和睦和谐”这一主题，由河南省人民政府、政协河南省委员会、国务院台湾事务办公室、中华全国归国华侨联合会、中华全国台湾同胞联谊会、中华炎黄文化研究会等联合主办，郑州市人民政府、政协郑州市委员会、新郑市人民政府承办。

This grand ceremony of worshipping ancestors in the hometown of Yellow Emperor, continuing the theme of "Same Root, Same Ancestor and Same Origin, Peace, Concord and Harmony", is jointly sponsored by Henan Provincial People's Government, Henan Provincial Committee of China People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots and Association for Yan Huang Culture of China, and undertaken by Zhengzhou Municipal People's Government, Zhengzhou Municipal Committee of CPPCC and Xinzheng Municipal People's Government.

9时50分，大典主司仪宣布丁酉年黄帝故里拜祖大典开始。嘉宾们先后走上拜祖台，向黄帝像敬献花篮。

At 9:50, the master of ceremony announced the beginning of the ceremony of worshipping ancestors in the hometown of Yellow Emperor in Dingyou year. The guests stepped onto the ancestor worship platform and presented flower baskets to the statue of the Yellow Emperor.

接下来是净手上香仪式。

The next step is the hand cleaning and incense burning ceremony.

随后，现场全体人员面向黄帝像，满怀崇敬之情“行施拜礼”，深深三鞠躬。

Then, all the staff at the scene faced the statue of the Yellow Emperor, "paid homage" with reverence, and bowed three times deeply.

“行施拜礼”后，许嘉璐缓步登上拜祖台，恭读拜祖文：“中华文明，浩浩荡荡。我祖勋德，光被八方……一带一路，文明互鉴。合作共赢，多手相牵……”

After "paying homage to the ancestor", Xu Jialu slowly climbed onto the ancestor worship platform and read the works of worshipping ancestors: "Chinese civilization is mighty and magnificent. Merits and virtues of our ancestors shine in all directions... Through the belt and road initiative, mutual learning between civilizations. Win-win cooperation by hand in hand..."

10时18分，在著名歌唱家张也、吕继宏的带领下，童声合唱团和着庄严悦耳的音乐，齐声高唱《黄帝颂》。

At 10:18, under the leadership of famous singers Zhang Ye and Lv Jihong, the children's choir sang Ode to the Yellow Emperor in unison with solemn and pleasant music.

在接下来的“乐舞敬拜”环节，演员们身着红色华服，和着古朴乐曲，用灵动的舞姿表达华夏儿女对先祖的追思和敬仰。

In the following "Worshiping by Music and Dancing" session, the actors dressed in red costumes, and expressed the Chinese people's memory and respect for their ancestors by smart dancing with simple music,.

在“祈福中华”环节，来自海内外的27名优秀炎黄子孙代表，在祈福树上悬挂祈福牌，接着，他们登上拜祖台，面向黄帝像深深鞠躬，并在拜祖文长卷上用印，表达对祖国富强、民主、文明、和谐及中华民族伟大复兴中国梦的深深祈福。

In the "Blessing China" session, 27 outstanding representatives of Chinese descendants from home and abroad hung blessing cards on the blessing tree. Then, they boarded the ancestor worship platform, bowed deeply to the statue of the Yellow Emperor, and sealed on the long scroll of worshipping ancestors to express their deep blessing for the prosperity, democracy, civilization and harmony of the motherland and the Chinese dream of great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

最后，来自美国、台湾、香港、澳门、郑州的5名儿童，登上拜祖台，放飞手中的和平鸽，也放飞中华儿女对盛世昌平的期盼，对世界和平的希望。此时，拜祖广场上颂歌飞扬、金龙吐水、彩球腾空，现场气氛达到了高潮。

Finally, 5 children from the United States, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Zhengzhou boarded the ancestor worship platform and let go of the dove of peace in their hands. They also let go of the Chinese people's expectation for prosperity and hope for world peace. At this time, carols were flying, golden dragons spit water and colored balls were flying in the square of worshipping ancestors, and the atmosphere at the scene reached a climax.

至此，拜祖大典九项仪程全部完成。

At this point, nine rituals of ancestor worship ceremony have been completed.
