The Ancestor Worship Ceremony at Yellow Emperor’s Birthplace in Wuxu Year (2018)

 

 

4月18日，农历三月三，以“同根同祖同源，和平和睦和谐”为主题的戊戌年黄帝故里拜祖大典在新郑市隆重举行。海内外炎黄子孙齐聚中原，共同拜谒人文始祖轩辕黄帝，祈愿家园和谐和睦、社会和平昌泰，共同努力实现中华民族伟大复兴的中国梦。

On April 18th, i.e. the third day of the third lunar month, a grand ceremony of worshipping ancestors in the hometown of Yellow Emperor in Wuxu year was held in Xinzheng City with the theme of "Same Root, Same Ancestor and Same Origin, Peace, Concord and Harmony". Chinese descendants at home and abroad gathered in the Central Plains to pay homage to the humanistic ancestor, Xuanyuan Huangdi, praying for harmony and concord of the homeland, peace and prosperity of the society, and making joint efforts to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

戊戌年黄帝故里拜祖大典由河南省人民政府、政协河南省委员会、国务院台湾事务办公室、中华全国归国华侨联合会、中华全国台湾同胞联谊会、中华炎黄文化研究会等联合主办，由郑州市人民政府、政协郑州市委员会、新郑市人民政府承办。

The ceremony of worshipping ancestors in the hometown of Yellow Emperor in Wuxu year was jointly sponsored by Henan Provincial People's Government, Henan Provincial Committee of China People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots and Association for Yan Huang Culture of China, and undertaken by Zhengzhou Municipal People's Government, Zhengzhou Municipal Committee of CPPCC and Xinzheng Municipal People's Government.

9时50分，大典主司仪宣布戊戌年黄帝故里拜祖大典开始，全体肃立，鸣盛世礼炮21响。接着，嘉宾向黄帝像敬献花篮。

At 9:50, the master of ceremony announced that the ceremony of worshipping ancestors in the hometown of the Yellow Emperor in Wuxu year began, all of them stood up, and the salute of the prosperous age sounded 21. Then, the guests presented flower baskets to the statue of the Yellow Emperor.

随后，现场全体人员面向黄帝像，满怀崇敬之情“行施拜礼”，深深三鞠躬。

Then, all the staff at the scene faced the statue of the Yellow Emperor, "paid homage" with reverence, and bowed three times deeply.

“行施拜礼”后，恭读拜祖文：“华夏文明，源远流长。我祖勋德，恩泽八方。启迪蒙昧，开辟蛮荒。伟烈丰功，万古流芳……”敬颂轩辕黄帝启迪蒙昧、开辟蛮荒、修德怀远、封土拓疆、肇造文明、光被八方的伟烈丰功，歌颂中华民族传承创新、博采众长、薪火相传、再造辉煌的不朽业绩。

After "paying homage to the ancestor", read the works of worshipping ancestors: "Chinese civilization has a long history. Merits and virtues of our ancestors benefit in all directions. Enlightening ignorance and opening up wilderness. Great strength and great achievements will be remembered throughout the ages..." It praises great achievements of Xuanyuan Huangdi such as enlightening ignorance, opening up wilderness, cultivating morality to keep ambition high, expanding the territory, creating civilization, and shining in all directions, and eulogizes immortal performances of the Chinese nation including inheriting and innovating, learning widely from others' strong points, passing down from generation to generation and recreating brilliance.

10时18分，合唱队高唱拜祖大典经典歌曲《黄帝颂》。

At 10:18, the chorus sang the classic song Ode to the Yellow Emperor in the ceremony of worshipping ancestors.

在接下来的“乐舞敬拜”环节，演员们用灵动的舞姿表现炎黄子孙虔诚之心、恭敬之意。

In the following "Worshiping by Music and Dancing" session, the actors showed the pious heart and respect of the Chinese descendants with smart dancing.

在“祈福中华”环节，来自海内外的27位优秀炎黄子孙代表，在祈福树上悬挂祈福牌。接着，他们登上拜祖台，面向黄帝像深深鞠躬，并在拜祖文长卷上用印，共同表达对轩辕黄帝的敬仰和对中华民族伟大复兴、对世界和平和睦和谐的美好祝愿。

In the "Blessing China" session, 27 outstanding representatives of Chinese descendants from home and abroad hung blessing cards on the blessing tree. Then, they boarded the ancestor worship platform, bowed deeply to the statue of the Yellow Emperor, and sealed on the long scroll of worshipping ancestors to express their admiration for Xuanyuan Huangdi and best wishes for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and world peace, concord and harmony.

最后，5位来自祖国大陆和香港、澳门、台湾以及海外其他国家和地区的华裔小朋友，登上拜祖台，放飞手中的和平鸽。此时，拜祖广场上颂歌飞扬、金龙吐水、彩球腾空，现场气氛达到了高潮。

Finally, 5 Chinese children from the mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and other overseas countries and regions boarded the ancestor worship platform and released their peace doves. At this time, carols were flying, golden dragons spit water and colored balls were flying in the square of worshipping ancestors, and the atmosphere at the scene reached a climax.

至此，拜祖大典九项仪程全部完成。

At this point, nine rituals of ancestor worship ceremony have been completed.

10时36分，主司仪宣布，戊戌年黄帝故里拜祖大典告成。
