Egg Carving丨蛋壳上的非物质文化遗产

　　Hu Zhanlin is a 76-year-old retired teacher who is an ace at egg carving。 As early as 2008, his egg carving handicrafts were included in the Zhengzhou’s first Nonphysical Cultural Heritage List. When the reporter meet with Hu yesterday, the latter was diving into egg carving to break through.

　　76岁的退休老教师虎占林是位蛋雕创艺高手，他的蛋雕创艺作品早在2008年就已被成功收录进郑州市第一批非物质文化遗产名录里。昨日记者再见虎占林，老人依旧不辍专研“蛋雕”,目前正在尝试创作新的突破。

 

  

　　Yesterday afternoon, Huzhan Lin, a 76-year-old retired teacher, was concentrating on creating a new ostrich egg sculpture in the elderly resettlement house in Huiji District.

　　昨日下午，在惠济区京水村委大院老年安置房里，76岁的退休老教师虎占林正在聚精会神地进行新的鸵鸟蛋雕刻创作。

      The currently work is a new egg carving with hollowed-out method to create the handicraft named “happiness and longevity ” .

      老人目前正在细心雕刻的，是利用蛋壳镂空创艺，构思新的蛋雕作品：“福、禄、寿、喜”。

　　Hu Zhanlin was fond of calligraphy and painting when he was a child, and later he learned sculpture skills from his father.

      虎占林老人今年76岁，他从小就非常喜欢书法、绘画，后来又跟着父亲学习雕刻手艺。

      One day after his retirement, it strikes him that maybe he could carving and painting on the shell. Compared with root carving, the materials needed for egg carving are very easy to get, and at that time, he was obsessed with the traditional craft of egg carving.   

      退休后的一天，他突然想到在鸡蛋壳上钻研雕刻、创艺和绘画。老人说，相比根雕，蛋雕雕刻所需的材料非常好找，也就在那时，他痴迷上了蛋雕传统工艺。

 

 

　 Since his retirement in 2000, Tiger Zhan has been devoting himself to 17 years of creative work on egg sculpture painting.

      从2000年退休至今，虎占林已经专研蛋雕绘画创艺17年。

      Apart from tigers and other creatures of the Chinese zodiac, his favorite egg carving includes characters from "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" or "Journey to the West" and "Dream of Red Mansions" as well as the Four Great Beauties. These delicate works are made of egg shells or ostrich eggshells.

      Now his son and granddaughter is following him to learn egg carving.

　　老人的得意作品除了老虎等十二生肖之外，还有《三国演义》人物、《西游记》人物、《红楼梦》人物、中国四大美女等，取材基本就是鸡蛋壳和鸵鸟蛋壳。

      现在他的儿子、孙女都在跟随他学习蛋雕技艺。

　　when the old can enjoy their life, one is never too old to work. Hu Zhanlin said “if we want to inherit and develop this art craft, it should be inherit to the descendants ”

　　“老有所乐就要活到老干到老，直到干不动的那一天。”虎占林老人说，“要想继承发扬好这种蛋雕艺术，需要后人接力。”
